Muscat: The Department of Criminal Investigation at Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that it detected a new fraudulent method targeting young people, using fake job advertisements via SMS with the aim of persuading victims to carry out specific actions over the Internet in exchange for sums of money transferred to them through their bank accounts and then re-sent to accounts abroad via exchange companies.

ROP advised citizens and residents of the need to verify the reliability and source of published advertisements and to inform the relevant authorities when exposed to them.
