MoE, ODB ink pact with Karwa Motors to supply school buses

Karwa Motors Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education and Oman Development Bank to supply buses for government schools.


The MoU aims to replace old vehicles with Karwa school buses with specifications at the rate of 1,000 buses per year, which will also be available in the local market from the beginning of 2024.


Dr Saad bin Ahmed al Muhannadi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, said, "The company's signing of this memorandum paves the way for Karwa Motors Company to provide transportation solutions in the Sultanate of Oman that meet the requirements of the concerned authorities and safety standards."


Dr Ibrahim bin Ali al Balushi, CEO of Karwa Company, said that Karwa Buses can accommodate 23 to 25 students and comply with GCC standards.


Karwa school buses are also equipped with CCTV cameras, emergency exits, automatic fire extinguishing system and high-performance air conditioning, safety lock on the doors, and a distinctive design of the side doors with a sensor system.


Buses will be provided with first aid boxes, sensors for the engine, a tracking system via GPS technology, and a system to monitor bus drivers and their performance.


Al Balushi confirmed that Karwa Motors Company has the stock of spare parts needed for these buses for a period of not less than 10 years, in addition to the capability to provide exceptional maintenance and after-sales services.
