MEET Moadh Al Sadi, a passionate Omani explorer who’s putting Oman on the map in Europe. Over the past five years, he’s taken on the role of a travel ambassador, embarking on a remarkable road trip through 33 countries.

His extraordinary journey led him through bustling European cities and made him the first Omani to conquer the challenging 20,000-kilometre round trip to the Arctic Circle via the North Cape route, passing through a tapestry of European and Asian nations.

In 2019 he travelled in his car for the first time to European countries which were full of adventures. He again went in 2022, during which he traveled more than 20,000 kilometers back and forth.

He again travelled this year in 2023 but decided to reach the Arctic Circle travelling through the North Cape 20,000 km and passing over several European and Asian countries.

Moadh’s love for classic cars added a unique twist to this epic journey.

He and his team embarked on a challenge: to travel 20,000 kilometers to the Arctic Circle in over 40 years-old vintage cars without any sponsors. Their determination and passion were unwavering, a testament to the quote, ‘Man has nothing but what he strives for.’ The moment they arrived at the Arctic Circle was nothing short of exhilarating.

Moadh recalls the sense of accomplishment and pride that washed over him. It was a culmination of meticulous planning, perseverance, and unwavering faith in their abilities.

“It was a truly remarkable sensation, filled with a profound sense of accomplishment and pride. I vividly recall that as we arrived at our destination, a cascade of moments from the inception of our journey and all the meticulous preparations leading up to it flooded my thoughts. As we drove our vehicles towards this defining moment, this overwhelming feeling bolstered our self-assurance. This, indeed, was our relentless pursuit, and we have successfully attained it, thanks to the grace of God,” he recollects.

Moadh’s journey was made possible with the support of his friends, Moadh Abdullah al Sadi, Nasser Humaid al Quraini, Ahmed Talib al Sadi, and Ameer al Mahrizi, all of whom have their own businesses. Together, they embarked on the expedition to the Norwegian city of Ålesund, a stepping stone to the North Cape, the closest point accessible by car to the North Pole and within the Arctic Circle.

Their trek to the North Cape was filled with awe-inspiring landscapes, pristine lakes, and encounters with Arctic wildlife.

After a three-day journey, they arrived at their destination in the evening, only to witness the surreal phenomenon of the midnight sun, as it never sets during the Arctic Circle’s summer.

Their ultimate goal was to reach the Norwegian North Cape before returning to Oslo, Norway’s capital, for a brief stay before heading back to Oman by plane.

Their trusty car, the hero of their adventure, now rests in Oslo, awaiting their next ambitious journey - a road trip to Japan, spanning multiple countries, starting in Norway, traversing Sweden, Finland, Russia, Mongolia, China, and culminating in Japan.

During their European expedition, they took a five-night pause in Austria, exploring the charming city of Salzburg, and later represented Oman at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) conference in Geneva. There, they had the privilege of meeting Dr Mahad bin Said Baowain, Minister of Labour.

Their journey continued to Hamburg, Germany, concluding a chapter of their extraordinary travel saga.
