The Oman national paralympic team has embarked on the journey of the Gulf Boccia Championship, hosted in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The championship, dedicated to the sport of boccia for people with disabilities, commenced on Wednesday and will continue until August 6.
Led by national coach Asaad al Thuhli, the Oman delegation comprises talented players Sultan al Wahaibi and Mohammed al Zaabi. The delegation is under the leadership of Adnan bin Mubarak al Owaidi, who will guide and support the team throughout the championship.
The first day of the event saw the players from the Oman team undergo the sports classification procedures. Sultan al Wahaibi was classified in the BC2 category, while Mohammed al Zaabi was placed in the BC4 category, ensuring a fair and competitive environment for all participants.
With a total of 78 participants from technical and administrative bodies representing 15 clubs across the Arab Gulf countries, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, and the host nation, Saudi Arabia, the championship promises intense and exhilarating competition among the finest boccia athletes in the region.
