Dhofar Municipality launched the slogan of the IronMan Championship in Salalah, in conjunction with the activities of the Serb Season in Dhofar for this year.
Dhofar Governorate will witness the second edition of the IronMan Championship under the official sponsorship of the Dhofar Municipality. "Dhofar Municipality for IronMan 70.3" championship will happen in partnership with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and many government agencies and private sector institutions. The event's venue will be Hawana Salalah.
Dr Ahmed bin Mohsin al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, said: "This event, to be held from September 21 to 23, coincides with the start of the Serb Season. The event will activate the sports and cultural tourism movements in Dhofar Governorate." The championship aims to promote tourism and other cultural potentials of Dhofar Governorate through many different activities and events. Participants and visitors in this race will enjoy this global event's atmosphere and the province's aesthetics and tourist sites.
Many nationalities are participating in this global event. The championship provides an ideal opportunity to introduce the tourism and aesthetic elements of the governorate, in addition to enabling companies, owners of small and medium enterprises, productive families and other groups to interact and benefit from this global event.
Part of the event is pre-race exercises, a race for children, and a village race with many tourist and recreational activities. The IronMan 70.3 race is a triathlon race covering 70.3 miles, equivalent to 113 km involving several activities, including swimming, bicycling and running.
