

World Women Leadership Congress (WWLC) honoured 13 Omani women and a resident of Oman at an award ceremony at the Crowne Plaza on Tuesday.
The award recognised talented women in several sectors for their spirit of excellence, innovation, ability to bring positive changes, and paving emerging examples for other women to follow.
It was the second edition of the award. The first award ceremony was organised in 2019.
The women who were given awards included, Hawraa bint Fida bin Hussain al Lawatiyah, Head (Customer Experience), Al Mouj Muscat; Muna bint Said al Shukailiyah, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Al Massa; Ghaya al Barwani, Ambitions Ambassador and RESULTS Whisperer Executive Organisational and team coach; Dr Yasmin bint Shannan al Bulushiyah, Senior Adviser, The Royal Academy of Management; Rumaitha al Busaidy, Secretary-General, World Aquaculture Society; Dr Adhra al Maawali, Head of Department, Quality Assurance and Planning Consultant, German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech); Ibtisam al Khaifi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Simat; Khawla bint Khalifa al Amriyah, General Manager, Human Resource, Oman Environmental Services Management Holding Company (be’ah); Dr Marisa Phaekwamdee, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Biz Inspiration Consulting Service Company SPC; Dr Sora al Rowas, Founder, Al Sorat Consulting Services LLC; Najma bint Salim bin Mohammed al Harthiyah, Chief Executive Officer, Al Sumri Trading & Contracting Establishment; Alya bint Abdulhafeedh bin al Qalam al Yafieyah, Manager, Development Engineering, Inflight entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC), Oman Air and Areej bint Masoud al Shaibaniyah, Senior Manager (Talent planning and Mobility), Omantel.
“The WWLC award recognises and appreciates the profound role played by women as leaders and decision-makers in shaping the future of a region and their country, and who embody the qualities of leadership in displaying active, creative, and integrative efforts in achieving the best possible results in the national and regional development plans,” a spokesperson from the WWLC said.
The event also featured a variety of segments, and the significant ones among them included Oman Brand Leadership certification and Oman Woman Leader awards.
Dr Sayyida Basma al Said, Mental Health Specialist and Owner of Whispers of Serenity clinic, and Laila al Hadhrami, Managing Director, Communities Connect Cities (C3), were the guests of honour at the awards ceremony. Laila is also the Smart and Sustainable Cities and Metaverse adviser, speaker, author and tourism expert.
