SALALAH: Most water springs in Dhofar are either constantly flowing throughout the year or seasonal, depending on the availability of water underground. The khareef season is the first source of groundwater recharge for these springs, as it brings monsoon rains.

Since yesterday, Wednesday, a number of waterfalls have begun to descend in the water springs in Dhofar Governorate. Ain Athum is one of the most popular waterfalls.

Ain Hamran is distinguished from the rest of the springs by the large number of trees in the area, such as fig and nargel trees. Ain Hamran is considered a natural outlet, and with each rainy season, there are known places at the top of the valley where water springs burst forth. These springs remain flowing for several weeks and continue to flow as long as the rains continue. Unlike these seasonal springs, the known and walled eye in Ain Hamran remains continuously flowing throughout the year and its water level is often good.

Ain Athom is about 28 kilometers away from Salalah State and is one of the permanent running springs. The site has been improved with water tables for the spring and a small pool in which water accumulates. This spring is characterized by its distinguished location, where it is overlooked by high mountain peaks and trees are densely located.

Ain Darbat, also known as Wadi Derbat, is located in the northeast of the city of Taqah. The valley is connected to the archeological area of Samheram. Ain Darbat is about 42 kilometers from the city of Salalah and is one of the most important water springs in Dhofar Governorate. The water streams from Ain Darbat reach several kilometers.

Wadi Darbat is considered one of the most famous and beautiful places in the autumn season because of the beautiful landscapes of the valley. Ain Darbat is characterized by a high level of water, which results in the waterfalls of Darbat for which the governorate is famous. Ain Darbat is witnessing huge waves of tourists from various governorates of the Sultanate and the GCC countries to enjoy watching the breathtaking scenery, the beauty of nature, running water, and the fall of waterfalls descending from the foothills of the mountains.
