“When thinking of interior design, one should follow the maxim ‘Less is More,” Arwa shared.
This maxim usually leads to people favouring more modern designs because they are comfortable and usually remains fresh and chic.
Arwa explained that in 2023, there will probably be more of a focus on sustainable and eco-friendly designs as environmental concerns continue to rise. Using natural materials like wood and stone, as well as energy-saving lighting and appliances, could be examples of this. Designers will continue to create serene and restful spaces using plants, natural light, and organic shapes and textures.
A greater emphasis on flexibility and adaptability in interior design is also likely as more people work from home and live in smaller spaces, according to Arwa. Furniture with multiple uses and design layouts that are simple to modify to suit changing needs could be examples.
As a result of its compatibility with the Omani environment and way of life, the traditional style will remain to be popular among the locals. However, as the field of interior design grows, people will eventually opt and embrace modernity.
Traditional VS Classic Designs
The traditional style mimics the Omani environment and values originality and sophistication. It conveys a sense of elegance and simplicity. This model stands out from others thanks to its raw materials—for instance, the quality of the wood used in the castles and forts and the engravings on the wood. It imparts a genuine, opulent, and distinctly individual style. Additionally, carpets and furniture play a part in traditional design.
Regarding the classic style, it has been utilized for many years and is still in demand today. The materials that stand out the most are furniture, wood, and marble. They are muted beige or gray shades in terms of color. The majority of characters tend to be modern and classic, though there is a category that designs a contemporary traditional character.
How does lighting affect a person’s mood?
One of the most important aspects of interior design is lighting, which has a significant impact.
“The presence of lighting creates a sense of balance and enhances the beauty of the design,” Arwa explained.
Whether it is an interior space for a home, office, or even a restaurant, lighting is not only an effective factor in interior design; it also influences the psychological factor and gives a feeling of comfort. The distribution of lighting, however, in proportion to the location’s needs and available space, is what matters most. Another significant natural resource that the designer can use in the design is the sun. Furthermore, it is essential to understand that lighting influences color selection because different lighting intensities result in varying degrees of colour.

Depending on the intended functional area, White lighting is preferred when designing an office because it promotes focus. For instance, some restaurants favor the color yellow. The natural color, which is a blend of yellow and white, is preferred by the majority of people. Most people advise using it in particular rooms of the house. But as I said, that depends on the location’s purpose.

The majority of people prefer wood because, among other reasons, it complements the majority of designs, whether classic or modern. Given that wood comes in a variety of colors, shapes, and types, using it creates an atmosphere of sophistication, luxury, and a connection to nature.
As opposed to the majority of trends, which become outmoded over time, using wooden decorations in the home assures people of a pattern or style that will endure. In order to convey elegance and renewal, wood is being used in interior design more and more. Additionally, wood improves the aesthetics of furniture.
