Muscat: The tropical storm "Biparjoy" situating 1,133 km from the coasts of the Sultanate of Oman has intensified into a category 1 cyclone, the Oman Meteorology Office said on Wednesday.

Biparjoy is currently moving north towards central Arabian Sea, yet the exact direction it’s going to track has not been identified.

According to the Met Office, the wind speed around the centre of the tropical cyclone is 70 knots.

The weather forecasters said the closest rainy clouds are 930 km away from the Sultanate, noting that upper-level clouds are expected to prevail over the Sultanate’s coasts in the next four days.
