Biparjoy is now Cat 3, likely to hit Pakistan/North India

Muscat: The tropical system "Biparjoy" situated 920 km from the coasts of the Sultanate of Oman is now classified as a category 3, the Oman Meteorology Office said on Sunday.


According to the Met weather forecasts, Biparjoy is likely to move northwards towards Pakistan/ North India with no direct impact on the Sultanate of Oman.


The wind speed around the center of the tropical cyclone is 96-105 knots.


The closest rainy clouds associated with a tropical cyclone are 550 km away from the Sultanate.


Meanwhile, the wave height alert will continue with the flow of high and medium clouds.


Oman Meteorology has cautioned sea goers not to venture into the sea and not to involve in water activities as the sea status is expected to be rough (3-6) meters along the coastal strip of the Arabian Sea.
