Royal Hospital launches new 3D printing service

MUSCAT: Represented by the National Heart Centre, the Royal Hospital on Thursday, launched a 3D printing service to serve patients in paediatric heart surgery. The service is the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman.


Dr Alaa bin Hassan al Lawati, Head of the Cardiac Surgery Department at the National Heart Centre of the Royal Hospital, said that the introduction of the service is aimed at raising the levels of diagnosis of heart diseases, especially complex ones that may require a multi-stage plan.


The service also helps improve the accuracy of safe surgical planning for such cases keeps pace with the latest scholarly research findings in the field of diagnosing heart diseases, which constitute a significant percentage of the total number of patients in any society. - ONA
