Muscat: With the expansion of its digital services, the ROP has announced that it will be possible to obtain non-convictions (police clearance certificates) through its mobile applications and website.
The services were announced at the Comex 2023, which concludes on Thursday.
The service is provided by the Directorate General of Criminal Inquiries and Investigation, where citizens and residents within the Sultanate of Oman can request a clearance certificate electronically by using the mobile application, as well as through the ROP website for residents outside of the Sultanate of Oman, where the applicant can also view and resend certificate requests.
Citizens and expatriates inside the Sultanate should activate a Mobile PKI SIM card for the applicant in case of login by PKI in ROP mobile application. An active mobile number is a must to receive the OTP for mobile application login in case the citizen is outside the Sultanate.
For foreigners outside the Sultanate of Oman, they should provide the last passport used to enter Oman and the civil number that was issued to by civil status during the period of residence in Oman.
Citizens will be charged RO3 and expatriates RO20 to get the police clearance certificate.
A police certificate is an official document issued because of a background check by the police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.
