Muscat: An urgent appeal has been made for the donation of ‘O’ negative blood due to high demand of this group for saving the lives of patients.
In a statement, the department of blood bank services said, “The demand for ‘O’ negative blood group is increasing dramatically. We are urging people of this group to donate as soon as possible at the Central Blood Bank Bausher.”
‘O’ Negative blood is in high demand due to its universal ability to save lives. “This blood can be given to any patient, regardless of blood type, which is why they are so important. Every day, trauma patients, cancer patients, and premature babies require ‘O’ negative blood,” the statement said.
Blood donation hours during Ramadan at Central Blood Bank Bausher: Evening (Daily) from 7.30 pm to 11.30 pm Morning (Sunday to Thursday) from 8.00 AM to 12.30 PM. The timing for platelets donations is 10.30 pm.
