MUSCAT, MARCH 5

Al Farabi Company for Veterinary Medicines Agricultural Co LLC, a subsidiary of publicly traded Al Batinah Development & Investment Holding Co SAOG, will commenced trial operations of its new plant in Al Buraimi Industrial City in May this year.

The parent company said in a filing to the Capital Market Authority that an earlier plan to establish the plant on a land plot has now been cancelled. It follows a decision to set up operations in a readymade factory building on an area of 9,966 sq metres – a move that also helps accelerate the implementation of the project and reduce costs, it stated.

Following the signing of the new lease agreement, three production lines have been constructed – for capsule production, liquid production and powder production line. The project is now being prepared for production.

Last June, Al Batinah Development & Investment Holding Co SAOG had revealed that the new veterinary pharma project would be managed by Syrian-based Al Farabi Company for Veterinary and Agricultural Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. The plant will initially commence operations with six production lines for medicines in the form of injections, liquids and sterilisers, powder formulations, capsules, ointments, vitamins and feed additives.

The project aims to cover the needs of the domestic and regional markets through the appointment of agents in a number of Arab and African countries.

Al Farabi Company for Veterinary and Agricultural Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, a leading player in this space, has more than 25 years of experience and owns more than 350 medical preparations registered under its trade name 'Al-Farabi'.
