Oman takes part in UN Geospatial meet

Abu Dhabi: Represented by the National Survey Authority (NSA), the Sultanate of Oman on Thursday took part in the 10th meeting of the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts for Geospatial Information Management.


The NSA chairman headed Oman’s delegation at the meeting, which was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting explored ways of cooperation between the member states of the Committee on Geospatial Information Management. It also underlined the significance of sharing experiences and expertise among countries to help achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the same field.


The meeting also looked into the results of the committee’s teams tasked with integrated action on geospatial information, future trends and the sustainability of the Global Geodetic Reference Frame (GGRF). The meeting reviewed the annual report of the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts for Geospatial Information Management, as well as a report of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), submitted to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and relevant recommendations. — ONA
