CAIRO: The State Council took part in the 5th Conference of the Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Parliaments and Assemblies which began in the Egyptian capital Cairo, on Saturday.
The conference debated a draft parliamentary document on enhancing Arab food security.
Titled “A Parliamentary Vision for Strengthening Arab Food Security”, the document focuses on the challenges and threats facing Arab countries with regard to food security and the parliaments’ role in handling the issue.
The speakers of Arab parliaments and assemblies and heads of delegations convened a meeting to approve the conference’s document.
Dr Badriyah bint Ibrahim al Shuhiyah, Deputy Chairman of the State Council, delivered the State Council’s speech in which she expressed the condolences of the Sultanate of Oman to the brotherly people of Syria and the victims’ families of the devastating earthquake affirming the Omani people’s solidarity with their brothers in both countries. — ONA
