Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development on Wednesday received a delegation from Hummer Childhood Forum and the German Association for Children with Disabilities.

The delegation took note of programmes and services rendered to persons with disabilities in Oman. They also discussed ways of cooperation and exchange of expertise between the two sides in serving the handicapped.

Members of the German team visited the headquarters of the ministry’s National Centre for Autism. They went on tour of the centre where they viewed the rehabilitation facilities (including simulation rooms) designed to help autistic persons achieve independence and merge into society.

The visiting delegation was also briefed about a job orientation programme to autistic persons to find employment opportunities after the completion of vocational training, for those aged 16 and 30. — ONA
