Qatari delegation explores Oman’s experience in environment preservation

Muscat: A delegation from Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change explored Oman’s experience in the field of environment preservation.


This comes within the framework of the delegation’s several-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman.


Dr Abdullah Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority (EA) underscored the importance of environmental cooperation between Oman and Qatar. He pointed out that the two countries have come a long way in developing the environment sector.


Al Amri also said that Oman accords a great attention to the environment sector within the framework of Oman Vision 2040. He also reiterated the significance of supporting green economy, circular economy and ecotourism.


The Environment Authority gave a presentation on environmental legislations in Oman, as well as control mechanisms and strategies undertaken for environment preservation.


The Qatari delegation toured Mawarid Centre for the preservation of genetic resources. The delegation will also tour some natural reserves in various governorates.


Dr Ibrahim Abdullatif al Masalamani, Assistant Undersecretary for Protection and Natural Reserves Affairs, headed the Qatari delegation.
