Royal Cavalry crowned show jumping champions

Muscat: As part of the Muscat Nights, the activities of the show jumping competition were concluded in the Qurum Natural Park on Friday, organised by the Oman Equestrian Federation in cooperation with the Muscat Municipality and the Olympic Equestrian Centre.


The competitions included the government cavalry units, private stables and equestrian enthusiasts, divided into seven categories.


The Royal Cavalry won first place in the Grand Class of the government units at a height of 130 cm. Mohammed bin Salim al Hadhrami on 'Thikrayat', which is from the local generation of Royal Cavalry, claimed the title.


Al Rayyan Stables started the competition with the junior category round, at a height of 105 cm, with participants of six horses. Natasha Anwar won the first place on ‘Linka’ from Al Seeb Equestrian Club, Tariq bin Zaid al Balushi finished second on ‘Edelbert’ from the Seeb Equestrian School, and Sultan bin Rashid al Touqi claimed third place on ‘Gatusha’ from the Olympic Equestrian Centre.


Five riders took part in the Grand Class round for Al Rayyan Stables with height of 110 cm.


Haider bin Anwar al Rashed on ‘Qawim’ from Al Arabiya Stables bagged the top honours. Mohammed bin Hamoud al Touqi won the second place on ‘Fanayk’ from the Olympic Equestrian Centre and Al Yaqeen bint Tahir al Kindiyah finished third place for Al Rayyan Stables.


The junior category of the government units witnessed participation of 17 horses at a height of 110 cm.


Al Rayyan Stables came on top through Khalid bin Darwish al Subhi on ‘Tcharming Geel’. Khalfan bin Hamad al Hattali on ‘Ibis’ from Royal Cavalry was second, while Mazin bin Fadhil al Ghafri on ‘Al Shumoukh’ from Oman Royal Guard finished third.



Nine horses were in action in the middle-class round of the public units at a height of 120 cm.


Mohammed bin Salim al Hadhrami on ‘Raja’ from Royal Cavalry clinched the title. Khalid bin Darwish al Subhi on ‘Otania’ from Al Rayyan stables claimed second spot, while Madian bin Saeed al Yousifi on ‘Wadood’ from Royal Cavalry finished third.


Three horses were in the highest category of 130 cm. Mohammed bin Salim al Hadhrami on ‘Thikrayat’ from Royal Cavalry came on top while Hamoud bin Sultan al Touqi claimed the second place on ‘Talbot’ from Olympic Equestrian Centre.


Sultan bin Mohammed al Harasi on ‘Al Jawhara’, won the first place in public unit category (height of 100 cm), out of 17 horses. Vanida Ahmed on ‘History’ from Olympic Equestrian Centre finished second and Barakat bin Muhanna al Hadi on ‘Haya’ from ROP ended third.


‘Mukhtar Muscat’ clinch title


On the other hand, the competition and excitement continued in the third horse race of 2022-23 season with seven races for different categories organised by the Royal Horse Racing Club at Al Rahba race track in Barka.


In the first round of the ‘Ain Al Kasfa’ race for purebred Arabian horses for 1,200 metres, ‘Mukhtar Muscat’ owned by Khalid bin Mohammed snatched the title.


In ‘Ain Athum’ race for purebred Arabian horses for 1,200 metres, ‘RB Poker Face’ won the first place, owned by Sadiq bin Suleiman al Fayrouz.


‘BF’, owned by Fahad bin Khamis al Balushi, claimed the honours in the ‘Ain Razat race’ for purebred Arabian horses for 1,200 metres.


‘Bahr Muscat’, owned by Faisal bin Ali al Fanah, came on top in the ‘Ain Al Thawwara’ race for purebred Arabian horses of local production for 1,600 metres.


‘Nawaya’, owned by Hamoud bin Saeed al Nahdi, won the ‘Ain Hamran’ race for purebred Arabian horses, locally produced, for a distance of 1,800 metres.


In the ‘Ayn Sahalnoot’ race for purebred Arabian horses (2,000 metres), ‘Sanad’, owned by Shabib bin Nasser al Yazidi, claimed the honours.


In the ‘Ain Jerziz’ race for purebred hybrid horses (2,000 metres), ‘Roger’, owned by Salim bin Saeed al Rashidi, won the first place.


‘Roman Rousseau’, owned by Moataz bin Nasser al Naabi, came first in the ‘Ain Darbat’ race for purebred hybrid horses for a distance of 2,000 metres.
