OEF launches show jumping training at Al Rahba

The Oman Equestrian Federation (OEF) launched the first training of show jumping competitions for the season 2022-2023, at the Olympic field at Al Rahba Farm in Barka on Tuesday.


The Oman Equestrian Federation earlier announced the show jumping season programme, which includes 17 competitions held at the Olympic field at Al Rahba Farm in Barka, starting the first competition on October 4, the second round will be on October 11 and the third will be on October 18. November will see five rounds on November 15, 18, 19, 22 and 23. Three rounds will be on December 7, 21 and 22. The new year 2023 will see six rounds. Two rounds will be on January 17 and 18, the rest of the four rounds will be on March 2, 4, 9, and the season will conclude on March 11.


The first training competitions include 100 horses, distributed in five categories, the beginners category 1, with a height of hurdles 70 cm, and beginners category 2 with hurdles height of 90 cm, the beginners category 3 at the height of 100 cm, the junior category at the hurdles height of 110 cm, and the intermediate category at a height of 120 cm.


The competition witnessed jockeys and horses of government cavalry units and private stables. The competition started at four o’clock afternoon until nine o’clock in the evening.


At the end of competition, Ahmed bin Saif al Abri, Secretary-General of the Oman Equestrian Federation, honoured the winning participants in the various categories, in appreciation of their advanced results.


OEF SIGNS DEAL WITH OTE


On the other hand, the Oman Equestrian Federation signed sponsorship agreements with Oman Trading Corporation (OTE) to support the activities during the season 2022-2023.


The agreement was signed by Munther bin Saif bin Hamad al Busaidi, OEF Chairman, and by the supporting institutions Khalid bin Saeed al Wahaibi, owner of Al Rayyan Stables and Salem bin Saad Bahwan al Mukhaini, CEO of the Oman Commercial Corporation, at the Oman Olympic Academy Hall.


With the support of Al Rayyan Stables, a league has been created that contains a set of important pillars, the most prominent is the classification of young people into two categories, from 12 to 17 years old, and from 18 to 21 years old. The riders points are calculated with each participation, through which the points are collected at the end of the season, and valuable prizes were allocated for each category.


Khalid al Wahaibi announced a surprise for all the participants in the tent pegging competitions, which are new jumping barriers with an Omani style that will arrive in the coming days. Al Wahaibi also added about the idea of holding the Al Rayyan International Championship this season and it will be announced in due course.
