Theyazin sponsors annual horse race in Buraimi

Under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, the annual horse race of the Royal Cavalry was launched, organised by the Royal Court Affairs represented by the Royal Cavalry, in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi on Thursday.

The race included a number of exhibition segments, including equestrian skills, the art of ‘Al Ayala’ singing on horses, throwing arrows, tent pegging, a musical show, the art of horse running ‘Ardah’, a horse beauty show and hypnosis of ‘horse sleeping’.

In the first race, ‘Marjeb Fort’ Race for purebred Arabian horses for a distance of 1,200 metres, ‘The First Horse’, owned by Royal Cavalry under the supervision of Fahad al Hajri, clinched the race title and the cup.


In the second round ‘Al Aaded Fortress’ Race for purebred Arabian horses for 1,200 metres, ’RB Kensman’ finished first owned by His Highness Sayyid Saud bin Harib al Said, and coached by Ahmed al Balushi.


In the third round ‘Al Hillah Fort’ Race for purebred Arabian horses for 1,600 metres, ‘Fatina’ claimed the top spot, owned by Royal Cavalry, under the coaching of Frederick Sanchez.


‘Jagath’ snatched the fourth round honours, owned by Abdullah al Maamari in the ‘Bait Al Nad Fort’ Race for purebred Arabian horses (dedicated to citizens' horses) for a distance of 1,600 metres.


‘Arby Blast Off’ owned by His Highness Sayyid Saud bin Harib al Said clinched the His Majesty the Sultan Cup in the fifth round ‘Al Khandaq Race’ for purebred Arabian horses for a distance of 2,000 metres.
