Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, will preside over the inauguration of Youth Centre Facilities and the announcement of winners in the Youth Excellence Contest launched by the ministry in September 2022. The event marks Omani Youth Day, which falls on October 26 every year.

The celebration reflects the attention accorded to Omani youth, as proclaimed earlier in a Royal speech by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, who said: “Youth are the wealth of nations and their inexhaustible resource. They are the hands that build. They are the nations’ present and future, and we are keen to listen to them to perceive their needs, interests and aspirations. They will undoubtedly receive the attention that they deserve.”

The ceremony includes the opening of halls and integrated facilities that provide services for young people in various cultural, artistic and technical fields such as photography, music, painting, emerging technologies, studios and laboratories equipped with the latest equipment. The facilities also include training and multi-purpose halls, specialized paper and electronic books, Braille books for visually impaired persons and a Creative Industries Incubator, which was established in cooperation with the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED).
