Tent pegging contest concludes in Barka

The Oman Equestrian Federation’s tent pegging competitions 2022-23 concluded at Al Rahba Farm in Barka under the auspices of OEF Chairman Sayyid Munther bin Saif bin Hamad al Busaidi.


In the team competitions, the Royal Cavalry team comprising Hamad al Riyami, Hamad al Raisi, Safwan al Maamari and Saif al Ashkhari won first place. The second place went to the Oman Armoured Vehicles team, represented by Ahed al Balushi, Mohammed al Siyabi, Ali al Balushi and Zaid al Saeedi. Royal Oman Police represented by Mohammed al Daoudi, Hussain al Hosani, Sami al Maamari and Daoud al Mushrafi came third.


Among individuals, Hammoud al Rawahi from Royal Cavalry came first followed by Hamad al Riyami and Hamad al Raisi from Royal Cavalry.

In wilayats, the Horse Racing Committee of Al Mudhaibi topped. It was represented by Mohammed al Jabri, Saif al Jabri, Saeed al Abrawi and Sami al Haddadi. The Rahma Equestrian Institute team, represented by Bilal al Safani, Rashid al Balushi, Saleh al Hosani and Ahmed al Balushi, came second. The International Academy for Tent Pegging, represented by Ali al Balushi, Hamid al Manori, Anas al Balushi and Nasser al Hashemi, finished third.


As for the individual category in wilayats, Mohammed al Jabri from the Horse Racing Committee team of Al Mudhaibi won the first place, Nasser al Hashemi from the International Tent Pegging Academy claimed the second spot, Saif al Jabri from the Horse Racing Committee team of Al Mudhaibi finished third.


Ghanima bint Abdullah al Shukili, from Royal Oman Police, won the first place in women’s category, Fatima bint Hussein al Balushi from Oman Armoured Vehicles was second and her team-mate Maryam bint Mubarak al Balushi finished third.


Twenty teams comprising 80 contestants from various government cavalry units and private entities took part in the contest. They include Al Numeer Equestrian School of Saham, the Horse Racing Committee in Al Mudhaibi, the Lijam Equestrian Team of Al Suwaiq, Fursan Zad Al Rakib of Ibra, Rahma Equestrian Institute of Al Khabourah, Bahla Stall Team and the International Academy for Tent Pegging of Al Musannah.
