Nearly 7 million passengers use Muscat Airport

Muscat - There has been an increase in the number of international and domestic flights arriving and departing through the various airports of the Sultanate of Oman until the end of October 2022/


The number of international flights arriving and departing from the airports of Muscat, Salalah, and Suhar was 51,017 with international operations recording a growth of 137.6 percent, from 21,466 flights in 2021.


The number of arrivals through airports increased by 153 percent as the total number of passengers using airports (arrivals, departures, and transit) increased by 115 to 7, 807, 908 until the end of October 2022, compared to the same period last year.


The statistics showed that the number of incoming (international and domestic) flights arriving and departing through Muscat International Airport increased by 111.6 percent, to reach 54,165 by the end of October 2022, used by 6,744, 565 passengers compared to 25, 592 flights ferrying 2, 784, 037 passengers in 2021.


Salalah Airport recorded an increase in the number of flights (international and domestic) by 74.9 percent to 7, 206 flights carrying 939, 977 passengers, compared to 4,121 flights ferrying 511, 476 passengers in 2021.


The number of flights (international and domestic) from Suhar Airport reached 739 flights by the end of October 2022, an increase of 413.2 percent. It carried 68,778 passengers, compared to 144 flights ferrying 14,831 passengers in 2021.


Duqm Airport recorded an increase of 5 percent in the number of domestic flights (arriving and departing), to reach 544 flights by the end of October 2022, compared to 518 flights during the same period in 2021. The number of passengers increased by 39.4 percent to 54, 588 passengers from 39,159 until the end of October 2022.


The Indian nationality topped the highest number of passengers on departing and arriving flights through the airport (122,926), followed by the Bangladesh nationals (48,431) and Pakistan nationals (36,747).
