The ego is afraid of rejection...

minus

We often stop ourselves from trying something new because we are afraid of making mistakes. We think this will upheave judgement from others, in turn this will deem us a failure with a heavy potential aftermath of rejection. Our powerfully imaginative mind often stops us before we have even fathomed a possible positive conclusion. It seems so out of our reach, that we impede ourselves from even trying.

It’s our ego which stops us from taking that next step towards achieving our goals because it could potentially harm us, make us not look “perfect”, undermine our capabilities and so as a protective mechanism keeps us in that very familiar comfort zone.

We prefer to cut ourselves short before even starting due to the belief that we need to have it all planned out perfectly from the onset. We project a fabricated result based on a limiting thought entrapped around the burden and fear of past experiences repeating themselves. As we don’t want to ever feel that way again, we put up walls and enter shutdown mode. The remote chance of any possibility crushed by the heavy head space of criticism, disappointment and dismissal.

Our brains can make us hyper-vigilant, hypersensitive and hyper-reactive. The positive intention is in essence for our benefit however, this safety mechanism can often backfire leaving us feeling empty, unworthy and unproductive.

This is where the inner battle ensues. Our spirit craves the opposite of what the ego desires. Our soul yearns for our creativity to shine. For us to be the person we are meant to be. It is not concerned with how we look nor how we sound. It has no apprehension about its purpose, which is solely to fulfil our desires and needs to it’s best capacity.

It knows that the mistakes we make are part of the journey of discovery, creation and growth. Without which we simply cannot become the person we wish to be.

Although the ego stops us from making mistakes, the feeling of regret for not having even tried is far worse. Regret is a tremendously powerful feeling that can render a person so unhappy, full of remorse and ridden with a deep sense of guilt.

How often do you feel upset having tried something new? We usually feel empowered, content or proud, regardless of the outcome. This is due to the alignment with our heart’s desires, without the hefty burden of eternal stimuli influencing our thoughts.

Turning down the noise of the ego and raising the volume of the soul can only ever bring about true happiness. When we are able to let go of the weight that we make mistakes mean about us and focus on the clarity of our vision, then wonders will happen.

Let’s tune into our hearts and intuition more, take that leap of faith that there might be some stumbling blocks along the way and know that they are the path to our success.
