The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Elections Committee met here on Monday, November 14, 2022, to approve the final list of candidates for membership of the Chamber’s board of directors as well as the boards of its branches in the governorates. They include candidates for seats earmarked for public shareholding companies and foreign investors.

The meeting was held under the auspices of Dr Saleh bin Saeed al Masan, Commerce and Industry Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, who is also Chairman of the OCCI Elections Committee. Committee members were present as well.

The panel also approved the various venues to serve as voting centers on Tuesday, November 22. Voting will take place from 8am until 6pm. Key venues include Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in the Governorate of Muscat, the Sultan Qaboos Complex for Culture and Entertainment in the Governorate of Dhofar, and the Chamber’s headquarters in the wilayats of Khasab and Dibba in the Musandam Governorate, while the branches of the Chamber’s administrations will be the centers to vote in other wilayats.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr Masan said: “The reformed Chamber will contribute to streamlining the elections, while also opening the way for foreign investors and public sector companies to be part of this electoral process – an exercise that meets the goals of Oman Vision 2040. This is also a platform for everyone to be able to participate in the electoral process, while candidates get to showcase their competencies and qualifications.”
