OFA all set for Super Cup match in Salalah

MUSCAT: The new domestic footballing season 2022/2023 will begin on Friday as the Super Cup match will take place between His Majesty's Cup champion and Omantel league title holder, Al Seeb, and the runner up of Omantel league, Al Nahdha. The match will kick off at 6:05 pm on Friday at Al Saada Sports Complex under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, in expected presence of officials.


Al Seeb, coached by Romanian coach Ilie Stan, will look forward to capture their first Super Cup title while Al Nahdha team, coached by the national experienced coach Hamed al Azzani, will chase up for their third title. The super cup match is back in action after two years of absence. Dhofar won the latest Cup in 2019 after beating Sur 4-0 in the match that was held at Al Rustaq Sports Complex on 13th September 2019.



Al Seeb and Al Nahdha teams are arrived to Salalah on Wednesday with a welcoming reception from OFA team. Few warm up sessions are left for both teams to gear up and shape the final readiness ahead of the final super cup clash.


The Oman Football Association (OFA), the organiser, is all set to held the match as an official commencement of the season. OFA announced that the technical meeting and the pre-press conference of both coaches is scheduled on Thursday afternoon at the Millennium Resort Salalah. The national umpire Yahya bin Ahmed al Balushi will officiate the opening match of the new season. The 29 years old was the referee for the Super Cup match in 2019 and he was among the umpiring squad of the HM Football Cup match in 2021/2022.


It is expected that during the podium ceremony, some laser and spot lighting shows with music will take place. Many valuable prizes and giveaways will be distributed for fans during the festival of Super Cup match including a sedan car and other awards.
