Oman all set for Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya (Lead)

KONYA, TURKEY: Oman’s delegation arrived on Saturday in Konya, a state in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, to take part in the Islamic Solidarity Games which will be held from August 9 to 18.


The team, led by Hisham bin Salem al Adwani, comprises Saif bin Sebaa al Rushidi, Abdullah bin Mohammad Ba Makhalaf, Board of Directors, and members of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC). Ishaq bin Abdullah al Balushi is the deputy head of the delegation.


Oman National Sporting Teams will participate in the Islamic Solidarity Games, which is in its fifth edition, with a delegation of 30 athletes out of 5,000 athletes representing 55 Islamic countries to compete in 24 Games.


Oman Teams will compete in five sports including athletics, cycling, swimming, weightlifting and shooting and aim to achieve top participation in this event and claim maximum number of medals. The Islamic Solidarity Games represents a sports and youth meet that strengthens the international relation between Islamic countries.


Athletics:


Oman national athletics team will participate from August 11 to 14. The team comprises Khawla bint Rashid al Rawahi, team manager, Mohammed bin Talib al Balushi, team administrator, Mohammed bin Abdullah al Hooti, national coach, Saeed bin Hamad al Harthy, national coach, Imad Mohammed Shawqi Siraj, coach, and Krasmir Petrov, physiotherapist. The athletes squad featured Oman’s top runner Barakat bin Mubarak al Harthy, Ali bin Anwar al Balushi, Mohammed bin Hamdan al Sulaimani, Mohammed bin Obaid al Saadi, Ammar bin Yasir al Seifi, Hussein bin Mohsen al Farsi, Salem bin Saleh al Yarubi, Salem bin Abdullah al Rawahi, Fatek bin Abdul Ghafour Beit Jaaboub, Mubin bin Rashid al Kindi and Mazoon bin Khalfan al Alawi.


Weightlifting:


Oman national weightlifting team will compete during August 11 to 15, with the team consisting of coach Mazen bin Hamid al Badri and players Amer bin Salem al Khanjari and Elias bin Tamim al Busaidi.



Swimming:


Oman national swimming team is headed by Said bin Masoud al Matroushi, Mohammed al Khiari, the coach, and swimmers Issa bin Samir al Adawi, Nasser bin Saif al Kindi and Muhannad bin Younis Awlad Thani. The team will brush its skills from August 13 to 17.


Shooting:


Oman national shooting team will start their competitions from August 10 to 16. Mohammed bin Suleiman al Hatali is the administrator, while Saud bin Salem al Abadi is the skateboard trainer, and Marco Conti is the shotgun trainer. The shooters include Reem bint Juma al Hosni, Salim al Nasiri, Abdullah bin Saif al Mandhari, Hussein bin Rashid al Shahoumi, Fakhriya bint Khamis al Jahafi, Naghmus bin Adnan al Hatali, Mohammed bin Hamad al Gharbi, Yasser bin Salem al Nasiri and Fatima bint Abdullah al Sulaimi.


Cycling:


Oman national cycling team will take part in the cycling competitions from August 11 to 14. The team, presided over by coach Mohamed Walid Zamani, comprises Ali bin Khamis al Ankoudi, assistant coach, Samuel Kattambay, mechanic, and the cyclists include Saeed bin Ibrahim al Rahbi, Mohammed bin Ahmed al Wahaibi, Abdul Rahman bin Hareb al Yaqoubi, Mazen bin Saeed al Riyami and Munther bin Abdullah al Hasani.
