NIZWA: The Department of Culture, Sports, and Youth in Al Dakhiliyah celebrated the Omani Youth Day on Thursday at Nizwa Cultural Centre.

The celebration was under the auspices of Saif bin Mubarak bin Saleh al Julandani, Director-General of the General Directorate of Education in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, in the presence of Ahmed bin Mohammad al Harassi, Director of Culture, Sports and Youth Department in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The celebration of this year is in line with Oman Vision 2040. It hosted the Star of Science 2022 winner, Sumaiya bint Said al Siyabiyah.

Sumaiya al Siyabiyah spoke about her experience in the Star of Science programme. She explained the stages and obstacles she went through to obtain this award.

"I recently discovered that many people consider me a source of inspiration, especially students. I am responsible for spreading and educating others, and I continue to give and inspire more innovators so that others can realise their dreams. They should always consider that obstacles are the first step to success."

She added: "I thank all the supporters. We should all not wait for innovations to come from the West. We can innovate. My goal for my innovation is to make it real and not just an idea."

Ishaq al Sheryani, Chairman of Bawareq Nizwa International Board of Investment, talked about entrepreneurship.

The participants visited the Al Busaid neighbourhood in the Wilayat of Adam.

The participants toured Al Busaid Quarter and presented suggestions for making the neighbourhood a tourist and economic destination.
