Women riders all set for Jordan GP

Oman women's team for tent pegging will participate in the International Women’s Championship (Grand Prix), to be hosted by Jordan from September 21 to 25 in Petra, with the participation of 28 contestants from 14 countries.


Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, Sudan, Russia, Belarus, Britain, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Norway, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia will compete for the honours.


The Oman team includes Ghanima bint Abdullah al Shukaili, Turkiah bint Mahmoud al Balushi and Amal bint Abdullah al Maskari. The Oman delegation includes Mohammed bin Salem al Maliki as the team manager, Hilal bin Hassan al Balushi as the coach, and Khamis bin Khadabakhsh al Balushi as the mission officer.


The contestants underwent an intensive camp for more than three weeks at Al Rahba Farm in Barka.


The tournament has scheduled the first day for the first round of the championship (singles spear, doubles spear). On the second day, the second round of the championship (singles sword, double sword) will be held. The third and final round for a wedge field with a spear for the individual and a wedge with a sword for the individual will be held on the last day.


Ahmed bin Saif al Abri, Secretary-General and Chairman of the Competitions Committee of the Oman Equestrian Federation (OEF), said, “The federation has completed preparations for the tournament, which is supervised by the International Tent Pegging Federation and organised by the Royal Jordanian Equestrian Federation.”
