Taekwondo team all set for Asian Championship in Vietnam

Muscat: Oman national taekwondo team will take part in the Asian Junior and Youth Championships, which will be held in Vietnam from Monday until August 29. As many as 350 players representing 35 countries will attend this major Asian taekwondo event and the championship is considered as one of the strongest tournaments at the international level. The even acts as golden opportunity for the national players to gain the more ranking points to qualify for the Youth Olympic Games. During the last period, the players of the Oman team were under preparation programme through some local and external camps.


Oman team will be led by national head coach Adil bin Khalifa al Wahaibi, in the junior category, al Muhannad bin Tawfiq al Balushi will participate in the 41kg weight category, while al Mutasim bin Ali al Maskari will participate in the 49kg weight category. In the youth category Hafez bin Salem al Maskari will join in the 49kg weight category, Omar bin Mahmoud al Sinani in the 59kg weight category, and Mohammed bin Rashid al Hajri will compete in the 63kg weight category.


The domestic taekwondo players will eye on registering top show in the Asian tourney and claim more medals to raise the national flag high in this tournament.
