Muscat - Over 1,500 people (1,511) applications have been received for job opportunities in small and medium enterprises, of which 627 applications were approved and their procedures are being completed, while 884 applications are under review.

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority clarified that this is part of the on-the-job training initiative to employ job seekers in small and medium enterprises and added that it will continue to receive requests from institutions wishing to employ job seekers in various specializations.

The authority urged business owners to take advantage of the on-the-job training initiative by registering the data of establishments wishing to benefit from training program packages to support small and medium enterprises.

The support provided by the Ministry of Labor is to bear the costs of the monthly training grant for the trainees, where for a full year, 100 percent of the salary will be paid.

The on-the-job training initiative comes as an effort to provide young national competencies with subsidized costs from job seekers by subjecting them to specialized on-the-job training programs, which will contribute to enhancing their employability by providing them with the required professional skills.

The initiative targets all owners of small and medium enterprises, and job seekers registered with the Ministry of Labor will be selected, or according to the institution's selection nomination process.

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority had indicated at the beginning of this year that 3,236 applications were approved by the Ministry of Labor under the on-the-job training iniative.
