The contractual job opportunities announced by the Ministry of Labour are meant to create jobs in the government sector based on job seekers’ specialisation in respective areas. The job opportunities are distributed in various educational qualifications, starting from a bachelor's degree to less than a general education diploma.

The ministry said the jobs advertised under the temporary contracts system would be for a period of two years. The chosen ones will receive a monthly wage as per qualification. For university degree holders the wage would be RO 500 per month, for post-secondary diploma holders: RO 450 and for general education diploma holders or below RO 400.

This announcement is considered the first of its kind for the year 2022 and the third in the series of job advertisements for the administrative apparatus units issued by the ministry according to a well-studied plan and according to the actual needs of government units.

The initiative called 'Contribute' is one of the initiatives of the Ministry of Labour that adopts the approach of providing job opportunities under the contract system to Omani citizens in government agencies.

The contract period is for two years, subject to renewal, with the aim of giving job seekers an opportunity to acquire skills until they obtain a permanent opportunity, opening the way for them to learn about the labour market, spread the culture of temporary work within society and to consolidate the principle of decentralisation in different governorates.

Those accepted for jobs will be subject to a week-long training under the 'Experience Programme' aimed at refining job skills as well as skills as per the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, methods of acquiring knowledge and learning strategies, developing the ABCs of leadership for beginners, and developing positive behaviour to increase productivity.

The Ministry of Labour has announced 2,216 temporary contractual job opportunities in the government departments in all the governorates. They contained 2,130 contracts for bachelor's and post-secondary diploma holders, and 86 for GED (general secondary) holders as well as for those with secondary certificates and less. Registration for the announced opportunities has started on April 3 and will last for four weeks.
