Oman athletics, swimming and cycling teams concluded their participation at Konya 2021

Konya: The Oman national athletics team finished their participation in the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, which is being held in Turkish city of Konya from August 9 to 18, by winning three medals (one gold and two bronze). On the last day of the athletic competitions, the team's star, Fatek Beit Jaaboub, managed to win the gold medal in the high jump competitions, Barakat al Harthy, Ammar al Seifi, Mohammed al Saadi and Ali al Balushi won the bronze medal in the 4x100m relay, registering a new Omani record with a time of 39.21 seconds. The star of our national athletics team, sprinter Barakat al Harthy, was able to achieve the first medal for Oman in the competitions of the fifth edition of the Games, after he managed to get the bronze medal in the 100 metres race, recording a time of 9.99 seconds.



Athletics players presented different results and numbers. In his first participation in the general competitions with a weight of 7 kg, Mubeen al Kindi achieved a distance of 57.26 metres in the final to overthrow the hammer, and the runner Hussein al Farsi recorded a time of 4.03.37 minutes in the 1,500m race, Mazoon al Alawiyah finished the women's 100 hurdles in a time of 14.18 seconds.


Oman shooting team completed their competition in the 'Trap' category on Friday by achieving ninth place in the mixed competitions (men and women), hitting 128 dishes out of 150, and for the skeet category, the team finished the preparations to participate in the tournament on Sunday and Monday in the singles category, while the mixed competition will be on Tuesday.


The men's team is represented by Yasser al Nasiri, Naghmoush al Hatali and Mohammed al Gharbi, and the women's team is represented by Fatima al Sulaimiyah.


In the cycling competition, Mazen al Riyami won the 31st place, while the cyclist Munther al Hasani ranked 36th place out of 70 participants in the individual general race in the cycling competition.


The Oman National Swimming Team participated in the championship competitions by swimmer Nasser al Kindi in the 100m butterfly competitions, and recorded a time of 1.03.90 minutes, while the swimmer Muhannad Awlad Thani participated in the 200m backstroke competitions, and recorded a time of 2.24.81 minutes.
