OOC unveil Oman’s participation at Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya

The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) unveiled on Wednesday the latest preparations of Oman’s delegation which will represent the country in the Fifth Islamic Solidarity Games which will take place in Konya city, Turkey from to August 9 until 18, 2022. The press meet which was held at the headquarters of OOC attended by Khalifa bin Saif al Esai, Executive Director, Hisham al Adwani, Chief De mission, heads of sporting teams in the tournament including Mohammed al Balushi from athletics teams, Said al Matroushi from swimming team, the cycling coach Ali al Anqoudi, Mohammed al Hattali from shooting team and weightlifting coach Mazin al Badri.


Oman sporting teams will participate in five games including athletics game which will feature participation of 478 players representing 49 countries, cycling competitions will be represented by 105 from 16 countries, shooting game by 117 players from 21 countries while 220 players will participate in swimming from 35 countries and weightlifting by 209 players from 29 countries.


After the decision of the organisers to postpone the date of the tournament scheduled in Konya, from 20-29 August 2021 and pushed to 10-19 September 2021, due to the Corona pandemic. Finally the tournament finalised to be launched from August 9 to 18, 2022, under the supervision of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, with participant of 55 countries, in 24 games and attendance of 5,000 athletes.
