Rains lash several wilayats

Muscat: The Directorate-General of Meteorology on Sunday said that thunder cloud activity over Al Hajar Mountains is likely to continue and there are chances of thunder showers of varying intensity levels associated with downburst and hail storms.


Al Hajar Mountains witnessed deep thunder cells accompanied by heavy rainfall and active wind over the mountainous areas located in the governorates of North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah and South Al Batinah. These areas also experienced thunder showers of varying intensity accompanied by downburst and hail storms.

A number of wilayats witnessed the formation of convective clouds bringing rains over parts of the Western Hajar Mountains causing overflowing of several wadis including Dima W’attayeen, Al Rahba in the Wilayat of Nizwa and Qafifa in the Wilayat of Ibra. Rainfall was reported in the wilayats of Izki, Ibri and Bahla.


The Wilyat of Al Jabal Al Akhadhar experienced heavy thunder showers over much of the wilayat.
