Amongst the hundreds of Omani photographers, Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Maawali has established himself as one of the most prolific content creators uploading almost daily across his social media platform different slices of Omani life.
Khalid is proud of Oman and all the little things that make it what is and while he also enjoys taking landscape and other genres of photography, it is street and portrait photography that he usually leans towards.
"Oman as a country offers a lot of different experiences not just in the context of the world but even in the Middle East. Oman is proud of its customs and traditions and I think as a visitor to the country, it is important to check out traditional crafts and arts in their different forms not only to contribute to their propagation but also to help out in making sure they don't disappear," he shared.
As a photographer, he said that Oman can definitely look into using a different lens but he prefers looking at it through people's lives.
"Majority of my photos dabble on street photography and documenting everyday people's lives. I feel that these photos reflect real people's lives and the scenes not only convey life but also the diversity of cultures and environments," he shared.
Often, Khalid can be found in many traditional celebrations happening all over Oman documenting events such as horse races, harvests season, and special events like National Day but he also treasures those moments he can take a snap of old Omanis in their fast-changing environment.
