ALEXANDRIA: The Sultanate of Oman’s Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, presented two history and geography encyclopedias as gifts from Oman to Alexandria Library.
The first encyclopedia, titled “Oman Since Antiquity”, showcases the contribution of Oman — as a state and society — to human civilisation. The second, titled “Jibal Oman”, reflects the diversity of the country’s unique geographic and topographical features.
On this occasion, Alexandria Library unveiled two new Omani books. The first, written by Dr Saleh Mahroos, deals with the rise and decline of the Omani Empire in East Africa. The second book, authored by Mohammed Ibrahim, takes up the story of Arab and Islamic leader ‘Ziad bin Al Muhallab bin Abi Safra’.
Abdullah bin Nasser al Rahbi, Ambassador of Oman to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, said that the gift to Alexandria Library symbolises the strong Oman-Egypt relations, as well as the significance of the great library’s role as a bridge between world cultures and civilisations. - ONA
