

Muscat: Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman Ameer Ajwad has presented different varieties of Sri Lankan ornamental plants to the Central Plant Nursery of the Royal Gardens and Farms (Royal Court Affairs) here.
Ornamental plants namely Orchids, Leather-ferns, Aspidistras, Cane Palms, Butterfly Palms and Cast Iron Plants were presented by the ambassador to Eng Saleh bin Abdullah al Jahdhami, Director, Department of Plant Nurseries of the Royal Gardens and Farms of Royal Court Affairs, at the Central Plant Nursery of Royal Gardens and Farms located at Zulfa, Maabela in Muscat.
These popular Sri Lankan ornamental plants would be planted in Royal Gardens and Farms in Salalah.
Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman arranged this donation by the Peradeniya Botanical Garden, which is the largest and elegant botanical garden in Sri Lanka, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism of Sri Lanka on the request made by the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman.
Presenting the plants, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad stated that Sri Lanka and Oman have huge potential synergies in the field of agriculture and farming and that he was pleased to initiate cooperation in this field between the two friendly countries by donating popular Sri Lankan ornamental plants to the Central Plant Nursery of the Royal Gardens and Farms (Royal Court Affairs) of the Sultanate of Oman.
Officials of the Central Plant Nursery of the Royal Gardens and Farms (Royal Court Affairs) also were present on the occasion.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad was taken on a tour around the Central Plant Nursery of Royal Gardens and Farms by Eng Saleh al Jahdhami.
