Dhofar Municipal Council approves recommendation to set up workers’ city

SALALAH: The Municipal Council of Dhofar Governorate approved a number of recommendations including establishing workers’ cities for the accommodation of expat labourers.

The Municipal Council held its fourth regular meeting on Monday under the chairmanship of Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar and Chairman of the Municipal Council. The Municipal Council approved the recommendation of the Social Affairs Committee on the formation of standing and interim sub-committees as per Article 28 of the executive regulations of the Municipal Council's Law promulgated by the ministerial decision No (44/2022). These include the Legal Affairs Committee, the Social Affairs Committee, the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee, and the Governorate Development Committee.

The council approved another recommendation presented by the Social Affairs Committee for forming a joint unified team to stem the begging phenomenon and its recommendation for protecting the school students from the effect of social media.
