Seeb remain on top with win in OL

Muscat: Seeb registered a thrilling 4-1 win over Nizwa to remain on top of the table on Saturday night in the 17th week of 2021-22 Omantel League.


At the Seeb Stadium, Amjad al Harthi, Abdulaziz al Maqbali (two goals) and Marwan al Siyabi sealed Seeb’s triumph while Abdullah al Yarubi netted the consolation goal for the visitors. The Muscat-based team raised their tally to 35 points while the defeat intensified relegation fears for Nizwa team as they are now at 13th place with 11 points only.


In the other late fixtures on Saturday, Al Buraimi’s representative Al Nahda snatched a crucial 1-0 win over Sohar at the latter’s home in Sohar Sports Complex. Oudi al Qura scored the most important goal in the game as he converted from the penalty spot in the second half. The win helped coach Hamed al Azani’s battalion to equalise with Seeb on the top at 35 points while Sohar remained at the previous credit of 23 points in the eighth place.


MUSANNAH PREVAIL


Al Musannah emerged a 2-1 winner over Bahla in another tight match of the week. At Nizwa Sports Complex, Arseni Luki put the visitors ahead while Musab al Lamaki added the second goal. The only goal scored by the hosts was by Yahya al Hudaifi.


The triumph assisted Batinah team to position in the middle place of the league table as they moved to sixth place with 27 points. The defeat put Bahla in the danger zone in 11th position with 12 points. Any further losses for the Al Dakhiliyah team, Bahla will join the three clubs including Al Ittihad, Nizwa and Saham in the relegation.


At the Al Saada Stadium, Al Nasr managed to record their eighth win in the league as they defeated Al Suwaiq 1-0 in a tight clash. The former national football team, Said al Ruzaiqi, scored the only goal in the game through header and delivered crucial three points to his team. The win jumped Dhofar’s representative team to fourth place with a tally of 30 points while northern Batinah team, Al Suwaiq, freezed at the previous credit of 21 in ninth position.
