Seeb stay on top of Omantel League after beating Bahla

Muscat: League leaders, Seeb, hold the lead of the 2021/2022 Omantel League ahead of the close of the winter season with four rounds to play.


The league champion of 2019/2020 defeated Bahla 4-3 in a thriller on Friday at Nizwa Sports Complex in the 9th round of Omantel League.


Marwan al Siyabi scored the winner in the dying minutes to deliver the crucial win for the visitors.


The draw 3-3 remained in the most of the regulation time as Mohsin al Ghassani put Seeb ahead earlier while Mohammed al Habsi netted the equaliser for Bahla in the sixth minute.


Ali al Busaidi returned Seeb to the lead as he scored the second goal in the 13th minute but Mohammed al Habsi registered the equaliser again in 46th minute.


Seeb players were dominated and seeking for the victory as they made pressure in the opponent side.


Mohasin al Ghassani scored the third goal in the 46th minute while Waleed al Musallami brought the match to the draw point in the 75th minute.


Before the match concluded, Marwan al Siyabi managed to score the winner for Seeb in the 90th minute.


With the triumph, Seeb moved to 21 points while Bahla remained on ten points and were placed in the eighth position. Seeb will meet Al Suwaiq in the forthcoming round on Tuesday while Bahla will face Al Nasr.

The runner up, Dhofar, thrashed Sohar 6-0 at Al Saada Stadium. Yazeed Salim was the best performer in the match as he netted a hat-trick while the other goals were scored by Qasim Said, Awadh Mohammed and Mohammed Salim.


The win took the Salalah giants to 20 points and behind the leaders by one point only while Sohar were in the tenth place with nine points only. The last win for Sohar was in the sixth week and then the team registered two draws Bahla and Al Nasr.


After their loss against Dhofar in the previous round, Al Nahdha bounced to the winning loop as they secured an important victory against Muscat 1-0.


The victory increased their tally to 15 points at fifth place while Muscat are in danger area four points.


Al Mussnah struggled in this round as they suffered a 3-2 loss against Oman club in Al Rustaq Sports Complex.


Oman clubs’s tally jumped to 12 points with the victory at seventh point while northern Batinah team is in third place with 16 points. Oman club will clash with Saham in the next round while Al Mussnah will take on Al Rustaq.


Al Nasr did not benefit from Al Mussnah’s defeat as they were held to a goalless draw by Al Itthad at Al Saada Sports Stadium. In other fixtures, Saham and Nizwa ended their match in a goalless draw too.
