Oman-UAE Economic Forum begins in Dubai

Dubai: The second UAE-Oman Economic Forum has started in Dubai on Thursday, on the sidelines of the Sultanate of Oman’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, with the aim of building a growing partnership in the economic sectors of interest to the two countries.


His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, indicated in his speech that the Sultanate of Oman represents the country's second-largest trading partner in the Gulf; It accounts for 20 percent of the UAE's total trade with the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.


His Excellency Qais Mohammed Moosa Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, stressed that the forum is an important and distinctive addition to the history of economic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, and an opportunity to explore broader areas of partnership and cooperation between the two sides.


Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates, said that the Sultanate of Oman is one of the most important commercial markets in the UAE and ranked ninth in the world at the end of 2021, with an average growth of about 10 percent over the last 5 years.


Abdullah Mohamed Al Mazrouei, President of the Federation of Emirates Chambers of Commerce and Industry, said the common denominators between the two countries reflected positively on the business sector, especially in the fields of tourism, exchange of experiences, studies, information and product promotion.


The forum also included holding bilateral meetings between major companies from both sides in various economic sectors aimed at discussing opportunities for cooperation and joint investment and facilitating the practice of business.
