SQU hosts International Arab Conference on Information Technology

Muscat: The 22nd International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT) began on Tuesday at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).


The three-day conference is organised by the Colleges of Computing and Information Society (CCIS), which stems from the Association of Arab Universities.


The opening ceremony of the event was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Dr Fahad Al Julanda al Said, Vice Chancellor of SQU.


As many as 113 research papers from 33 countries will be presented during the conference, covering various information technology specialisations.


The conference aims to highlight the importance of information technology in the modern age and its role in developing society through the areas it tackles such as Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, among other fields.


The event, which is hosted for the first time by SQU, promotes joint research projects and sharing their outcomes. It aims to organise specialised and general seminars and connect research with the needs of Arab Societies.


Moreover, the conference is an opportunity for Arab researchers and scientists to meet and exchange expertise. It also attracts experts from non-Arab countries to benefit from their capabilities, in addition to highlighting the latest IT developments. --ONA
