Rousing reception for His Majesty in Doha

DOHA: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik arrived here on Monday on a two-day state visit to the State of Qatar.

Upon His Majesty’s arrival at Doha International Aiport, Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of Qatar, led the welcoming party, which included Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad al Thani, Deputy Emir of Qatar, Shaikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani, the Personal Representative of the Emir, Shaikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani, President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad al Thani, Abdullah bin Khalifa al Attiyah Minister of State (Head of the Mission of Honour), Saud bin Abdulrahman al Thani, Chief of the Emiri Diwan and Shaikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman al Thani, Ambassador of Qatar to the Sultanate of Oman.

When the Royal Jet entered the airspace of Qatar, it was escorted by warplanes from the Qatari Air Defence Force.

After a short rest at the Reception Hall, His Majesty the Sultan, accompanied by the Emir of Qatar, joined a motorcade that took them over to the Emiri Diwan. There, His Majesty the Sultan was accorded an official welcome. The protocols started when the vehicle carrying His Majesty the Sultan and Shaikh Tamim entered the yard, flanked by a cavalcade and a camelcade that had lined both sides of the street to welcome His Majesty the Sultan.

As soon as the motorcade arrived, Shaikh Tamim escorted His Majesty the Sultan to the dais, where the Royal Anthem of the Sultanate of Oman and the Qatari National Anthem were played. His Majesty the Sultan inspected the guard of honour which saluted him.

Then, His Majesty the Sultan received members of the Qatari welcoming party and exchanged greetings with them, while the Emir of Qatar received the members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty the Sultan.

Earlier in the day in Muscat, His Majesty the Sultan was seen off at the Royal Airport by His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers; His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan; His Highness Sayyid Fatik bin Fahar al Said, Special Envoy to His Majesty the Sultan; Shaikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council; Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura; Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Minister of Interior; Nasr bin Hamoud al Kindi, Secretary General of the Royal Court Affairs; Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed al Salmy, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs; Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health; Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education; Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat; Lt Gen Hasan bin Mohsin al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs; Lt Gen Said bin Ali al Hilali, Head of the Internal Security Service; Maj Gen Matar bin Salim al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman; Air Vice Marshal Khamis bin Hammad al Ghafri, Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman; Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman; and Maj Gen Musallam bin Mohammed Ja’aboub, Commander of the Sultan’s Special Force (SSF). — ONA
