MUSCAT: Cementing its position as a socially responsible organization, and within the context of its ongoing support to the national efforts aimed at mitigating the impact caused by tropical Cyclone Shaheen, BankDhofar has signed an agreement of cooperation with Dar Al Attaa Association to finance a project worth RO 500,000 towards reconstruction and maintenance of damaged homes in cyclone-hit areas.

The agreement was mutually signed by Abdul Hakeem Omar Al Ojaili, CEO of BankDhofar, and Honorable Maryam Issa Al Zadjali, Chairperson of Dar Al Attaa, in the presence of a number of officials from both parties. Accordingly, BankDhofar is to finance the reconstruction and maintenance of damaged homes with RO 500,000 previously announced as part of the bank’s contribution to the cause.

During the signing ceremony, BankDhofar’s CEO Abdul Hakeem Omar Al Ojaili reiterated the bank’s commitment to practice its social responsibility which stems from its core belief in the importance of solidarity and togetherness in such time. “Being an integral part of our Omani society, we have always been keen in supporting humanitarian initiatives. Hence, we joined hands with Dar Al Atta’a Association today to support families impacted by Cyclone Shaheen. We would like to see them return to their homes as soon as possible, and we are happy to finance restoration and reconstruction of their damaged properties,” he said.

Eelier, when cyclone Shaheen hit the northern part of Oman in October 2021, BankDhofar’s Board of Directors unanimously approved the allocation of RO 10 Million as interest-free loans for affected customers, in addition to deferment of loan instalments for up to 5 months.

This initiative highlights BankDhofar’s leading role in supporting various social and economic causes.

The bank had provided support during previous natural disasters that hit the Sultanate, including Cyclone Gonu and Cyclone Mekunu that caused drastic damages to the infrastructure and affected local communities. BankDhofar continues to showcase its commitment by launching several strategic sustainable CSR initiatives, ensuring sustainable benefit and on-going development, while simultaneously strengthening its ties with the local community.
