Plans to boost Investment and non-oil exports

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) continues its efforts to promote investment in manufacturing, tourism, fisheries, transportation and logistics.


The MoCIIP implements its investment promotion efforts through virtual meetings and online seminars for investors from inside and outside of the Sultanate. These meetings aim at introducing the incentives and the available investment opportunities in the various targeted sectors, and how to attract foreign capital to the Sultanate in the next stage.


MoCIIP pointed out that it promotes investment by identifying investment opportunities in promising sectors, managing the Invest in Oman platform, responding to investor inquiries, providing the necessary information, organising promotional events and participating in trade delegations to introduce the investment environment in the Sultanate to attract local and foreign investors, following up with government agencies, developing an annual program to promote investment and studying targeted markets.


In term of improving the country’s exports, MoCIIP is developing policies and plans related to promote non-oil exports, supporting investors by providing the necessary trade statistics, identifying the targeted markets, enhancing the presence of the Omani products in the international exhibitions, launching promotional campaigns, holding bilateral meetings, hosting trade delegations and finding appropriate solutions to the challenges and obstacles facing exporters.


The ministry emphasized that, the mechanisms for introducing the Omani products to the targeted markets can be through specialized exhibitions and participating in the international exhibitions. These exhibitions help the Omani companies in promoting their products as well as provide the ideal place to launch the company’s products and help them to build strong relationships with customers.


It organises seminars and workshops aim at addressing a number of topics of interest to Omani exporting companies and those interested in exporting, thus contributing to enhancing their awareness and raising the competitiveness of Omani non-oil exports in global markets.


The MoCIIP also prepares commercial reports which identify export opportunities.


The ministry is also keen to invite businessmen and investors from other countries to visit the Sultanate to identify about Omani industries and investment opportunities.


The Directorate General of Investment Promotion of MoCIIP said that investor guide helps investors to identify the investment environment in the Sultanate and to learn how to start business.


The guide contains information about industrial zones, special economic zones and free zones, as well as the ports .The investor guide also defines the agreements related to investment that the Sultanate has signed with the countries of the world.


MoCIIP stressed that , by participating in the Dubai Expo 2020 , the Sultanate will be introduced as an investment destination. The participation in this global event will help Oman to attract investment delegations from across the world.
