The fresh ban on arrivals from two countries as well as the extended ban on arrivals from 14 other nations will take effect on Friday, May 7, and is valid until further notice.
Arrivals from Egypt and the Philippines and other travellers who have passed through any of these two countries in the previous 14 days prior to their request to enter the Sultanate, will be banned from entering the Sultanate from Friday.
Oman extended the existing ban on entry to citizens from 14 countries and to those who have passed through these countries in the past two weeks until further notice.
The existing suspension of arrivals from the 10 countries Sudan, Lebanon, South Africa, Brazil, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia; and the United Kingdom, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh and those who have been travelling from other countries but have passed through one of the aforementioned countries in the previous 14 days preceding their request to enter the Sultanate has been extended until further notice.
The ban on entries from the first 10 countries was imposed from February 24 this year in the wake of the large number of Covid-19 cases while the remaining four other countries were added on April 26 after they reported a surge in cases.
All airlines operating to and from Oman have been informed to abide by the new rules and decisions, failing of which will incur stringent action against the offenders, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
“This decision of the Civil Aviation Authority is based on the decision made by the Supreme Committee for dealing with Covid-19 issued on May 4, 2021, and all airlines are advised to take note of the latest decisions accordingly,” a statement from the CAA said.
However, the above decision is not applicable to Omani citizens, diplomats, healthcare workers
and their families who will be subject to the Covid-19 prevention protocols and approved procedures upon arriving in the Sultanate.
