SYDNEY: The Sultanate ranked first in the list of countries least affected by terrorism, according to the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) issued by the Institute for Economics and Peace, based in Sydney, Australia. The index ranked the Sultanate among 30 countries in the world that did not face terrorist incidents during the last year 2016, indicating that total number of global deaths caused by terrorism declined this year by 13 percent. The report showed an increase in the number of countries that improved their global index score, with 79 countries improved their score and 58 countries deteriorated.
