No truth in kidnapping reports, action against rumour-mongers

Royal Oman Police has clarified that there is no truth in the social media reports about the kidnapping and rape of a girl in Suhar. It also dismissed reports about the kidnapping of two children of which one has been murdered and other one still missing.


The police said that legal action will be taken against those responsible for the spread of these false reports.


The Child Protection Committee at the Ministry of Social Development also held an emergency meeting to discuss social media reports based on sexual abuse of school children.


On Monday, ROP denied rumours on social media about the murder of an old woman and a three-month-old baby.
